About Us

History
Alke’s Enterprises Inc. has been working on product development since 1987. After completing the design in the 1990′s,  we were faced with finding people to assemble the products. Wanting to be a different kind of company – we decided to give work opportunities to adults in the community who have developmental disabilities.  We made this decision because having a family member with a learning disability, we knew gainful employment for them is hard to find.

Over the past 8 years of assembly and sales we are still seasonal in nature and are always looking for different applications for our stock products, and our IP.

We have been on a ‘CBC” TV Network Reality Series “The Dragon’s Den” Season III, scheduled to air on TV Nationally later this fall.

Location and Facilities
Our products and retail displays are all hand assembled by our employees here in Edmonton, AB. We are located in Edmonton’s South Side, with great access to all major roadways. We have contracted Excel Resources to produce our products, given the raw materials.

Community Support
We employ adults in the community with Developmental Disabilities, thereby giving them work opportunities to gain a sense of self-esteem, self worth and pride. They have an opportunity of feeling they are a part of society.  When they see the product that they worked on earlier in the year sitting at the store front counter impulse section, they get very excited and have been know to comment to those around them that, they were responsible for building the Lump O’ Coal.  We have heard stories similar to this, and it give us as owners the satisfaction that we are making a difference in the lives of those we offer work opportunities to with our product.
